About the Conference

The Model United Nations in Mostar Conference -- the first high-school level MUN conference in the Balkans -- brings passionate youth from over 20 countries together for diplomatic debate simulating the United Nations from 28 until 30 March 2014.

The conference is organised by students at United World College in Mostar. UWC Mostar is located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and was founded in part to combat the segregation of the conflicted ethnic groups, thereby decrease animosity and mistrust through education.

The MUNiM conference fee -- 50 EUR for international participants -- covers required material, participation fees, evening activities, all meals and accomodation. Successful applicants will receive payment details upon acceptance.

We are eagerly awaiting this year's conference and hope you will share this wonderful experience with us. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.

This year's MUNiM conference will have five councils:
1. The Security Council will discuss the situation in the Azawad region of Mali, and will also receive a crisis scenario that will be debated without preparation
2. The Human Rights Council will develop treaties aiming to combat human trafficking and to improve the living conditions of refugees in former Yugoslavia.
3. The Social and Economic Council will attempt to improve the coordination of disaster relief and create employment opportunities for youth in developing countries
4. The Historic Security Council will simulate UN debate surrounding racial seggregation in South Africa and the fall of Yugoslavia
5. The International Court of Justice will reach a verdict on the 2013 "Whaling in the Atlantic" case (Australia v. Japan) and the 1980 "Case Concerning United States Diplomatic and Consular Staff in Tehran" (United States v. Iran).
