About the Conference

Youth@SAIIA is pleased to announce the creation of the SAIIA Young Leaders Conference. The Best Delegation from each of this year’s Model UN sessions will be invited to participate in this all-expense paid conference during 10-14 December 2012. Learners, as well as a number of teachers and university students from all of SAIIA’s youth programmes will take part in this week-long conference that will involve high profile speakers, visits to government and international organisation offices, and negotiations sessions on current global issues.
Using principles of Model United Nations participants will represent different sectors or interest groups in assigned committees to put forth the views of young South Africans on topics such as climate change and sustainable development, education, and the global financial crisis. At the close of the negotiation sessions learners will have drafted their possible recommendations and solutions to be shared with United Nations and government officials.
