The UN and RwandaNebraska ChapterMonday, January 28, 2013 Location: Lincoln, Nebraska Laura Roost will address the local United Nations Association chapter on the subject of The UN and Rwanda, Monday, January 28, noon, Aldersgate Methodist Church, 84th and South Streets. Ms. Roost is a doctoral candidate at UNL who has done field work in Rwanda on a Fulbright Grant. She will talk about the 1994 genocide, the UN’s creation of a special court to try those who authorized the violence, and the impact of that court. She will also speak about the role of women in the broader subject of transitional justice—that is, how to respond after atrocities and considering other steps besides criminal justice. The talk is preceded by a buffet lunch from 11:30 a.m.; reservations at mshortt@inebraska.com or unanebraska@gmail.com. A chapter business meeting will follow the talk.
