In commemoration of the 70thanniversary of the devastating WWII atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki,
the San Jose Japanese American Citizens League (JACL)and the South Bay Area Hiroshima Nikkei JinKaiare teaming up to present a special free community screening of Steven Okazaki’s award winning documentary White Light Black Rain.  Featuring interviews with fourteen Japanese survivors and four Americans involved in the bombings. A short program on the Hibakushawill follow the screening.

The Tampa Bay Chapter of the United Nations Association (UNA-TB) announces the start of a collaborative effort to seek local support for the United States ratification of the United Nations Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). UNA-TB is establishing a “Tampa Bay CEDAW Coalition” with like-minded organizations and private sector businesses to advocate for local support for US Senate ratification of CEDAW. The Tampa Bay CEDAW Coalition will seek to influence local political leaders to take action in support of CEDAW.
