UN Day Celebration: Boulder County ChapterSunday, October 28, 2012 Location: Boulder, CO Join our Boulder County Chapter for their UN Celebration which includes a presentation on Women's Issues in the Developing World. A Spice of Life Events Center On the grounds of Foothills Golf Club 5706 ARAPAHOE AVE. 1:30-4:30 PM 1:30 - Doors Open 2:00 - Introduction by William Kellogg - President, UNA/BC 2:15 - Presentation by Yasmina Chourfi - Solutions for a Prosperous World - Women's Issues in the Developing World Dr.Chourfi, a native of Morocco, was one of the first women judges in her country. In 1980 she joined the office of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees to work in Congo-Kinshasa. She has worked in Baghdad as UN Deputy Chief of Mission, in Cairo as senior regional advisor for refugee women in the Middle East (Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Iran), and in Zambia, Switzerland, and Sudan promoting laws referencing refugees, especially women. 3:00 - Refreshments, Cash Bar, and Exhibits Eighteen organizations from Boulder who support the work of the United Nations will have displays featuring the work they do in support of the United Nations Millennium Goals as they all seek solutions for a more prosperous world. Organizations having exhibits range from Bead for Life, to the Model United Nations Clubs of Boulder High and CU, to the two local Zonta Clubs. The event is free and open to the public.
