Peking UniversityPeking University is one of the oldest, best and most prestigious universities in China. It consists of 30 colleges and 12 departments, with 93 specialties for undergraduates, 2 specialties for the second bachelor degree, 199 specialties for masters candidates and 173 specialties for Doctoral candidates. Founded in 1898, PKU has become a center for both teaching and research, consisting of diverse branches of learning such as pure and applied sciences, social sciences and the humanities, management, and education. Its aim is to rank among the world's best universities, equal to Harvard, MIT, Princeton, Oxford or Cambridge, within the next few decades. PKU was one of the first Chinese universities to have a Model UN program; its students have been attending Model UN conferences around the world for the past several years.
