Global Classrooms: ChicagoAbout the City
Global Classrooms: Chicago
Chicago is home to over three million residents and thousands of immigrants who arrive each year. These new arrivals bring international influences to the city's neighborhoods and create opportunities for young people from diverse backgrounds to interact.

Even though Chicago is becoming more international, the global economy and the international community often remain abstract concepts for its students. In an environment where vocational skills are highly valued, and where many young people must work for income, students sometimes miss out on opportunities to explore international issues. Global Classrooms® presents a remarkable opportunity for Chicago's students to gain practical skills in speaking, writing, and researching as they learn about the world around them. This program provides essential skills in global literacy and leadership. Proficiency in communication and conflict-resolution serves Chicago Public Schools students not only in the classroom but in their communities as well.
