About Delhi Public Schools, RK Puram

Delhi Public Schools, RK Puram was founded as a private institution in New Delhi in 1972 by the Delhi Public School Society (DPS). DPS is currently made up of 63 schools throughout India and six schools in Dubai, Indonesia, Kuwait, Nepal, Qatar and Sharjah. DPS, RK Puram is a co-educational day-cum-boarding school with approximately 9,500 students studying at three campuses: RK Puram, East of Kailash and Vasant Vihar.

The goal of the school is to enroll students with a love of learning and instill in them a desire to excel at every level. The school's mission is "to open doors and open minds". DPS, RK Puram equips students with the intellectual and practical skills necessary for their success as the future of the nation.

In addition to the school's commitment to academic excellence and education for all-round development, DPS, RK Puram is characterized by its appreciation of the worth of the individual student. DPS RK Puram is equally committed to under-represented and less-privileged students such as gifted applicants whose parents did not attend school, and children with high potential in difficult financial circumstances.

A landmark development has been the inclusion of the physically and mentally handicapped children from the Tamana Special School into mainstream school life. This contributes to a strong sense of community that is characteristic of DPS, RK Puram.

Children belonging to every strata of society are given the opportunity to study at the School, which does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, caste or creed in its admissions policy.

All the academic programs and activities at DPS, RK Puram are designed to help students develop lives of significance for themselves and for others, and to remain true to the spirit of the school motto: "Service Before Self."
