United Nations Association of the USA Head Reelected to WFUNA Executive CommitteePatrick Madden joins other UNA leaders to provide strategic guidance for the work of UNAs across the globeNovember 15, 2012 WASHINGTON – The United Nations Association of the USA’s Executive Director Patrick Madden has been reelected to serve on the Executive Committee of the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA); the announcement came during WFUNA’s 40th Plenary Assembly in Rio de Janeiro. “I look forward to working with my fellow UNA peers around the world to support the citizen movement for the UN,” said Madden. “By working together globally through WFUNA, we are better positioned to serve our national constituencies as they work to broaden understanding for the UN and advocate for strong relationships between member states and the United Nations.” WFUNA focuses its work mainly on the issues of peace and security, human rights, sustainable development, and global education. The organization maintains highly-respected programs around such topics as Responsibility to Protect, climate change, engaging youth with the United Nations, and the youth-focused human rights training program, “So, You Want to be the Next High Commissioner?” The WFUNA Executive Committee works with the WFUNA Secretary-General to guide the work of the organization, helping set and pursue WFUNA’s core objectives in support of the United Nations. Representatives from UNAs in Armenia, Norway, Russia, and South Africa are among those who were elected along with Madden to 10 available seats on the Executive Committee. WFUNA is a global nonprofit organization representing and coordinating a membership of more than 100 UNAs and millions of citizen constituents. Guided by a vision that the UN is a powerful force for meeting common global challenges and opportunities, WFUNA works to strengthen and improve the United Nations. WFUNA member organizations achieve their goals through the engagement of people who share a global mindset and support international cooperation. ### ABOUT UNA-USA
