Greening the Developing World Oct. 21 -- The Business Council for the United Nations, in partnership with Siemens and Time magazine held a luncheon today titled “Greening the Developing World: Tech’s Leading Role –Exploring the Mechanisms of Deploying Green Technology to Developing Countries,” bringing together business leaders, government representatives, civil society and media members to discuss the limits and possibilities of international intellectual property rights.
The event took place in the United Nations Delegates Dining Room at UN Headquarters, where the guests were welcomed by Ambassador Thomas Miller, president of UNA-USA, followed by a panel discussion.
The panel was composed by Patricia Sherman, vice president of international affairs at Siemens Corporation; Modest Mero, the minister plenipotentiary of the permanent mission of Tanzania; Robert Orr, UN assistant secretary-general for policy coordination and strategic planning from the executive office of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon; Glenn Prickett, senior fellow at the UN Foundation; Ambassador Hardeep Puri, permanent representative of India to the UN; and Carsten Staur, permanent representative of Denmark to the UN.
The panel was moderated by Bryan Walsh, editor of Time’s weekly column, Going Green.
