DESCRIPTION

Peace talks between the Government of Afghanistan and the Taliban are finally underway, in Doha, Qatar. Join us on the International Day of Peace to hear from experts in and from Afghanistan about the progress of the talks to date, the major challenges they face and the impact the talks are already having on life in Afghanistan. While everyone is optimistic that the talks will reduce the fighting after 19 years, everyone is also concerned about the future for women, human rights and civil society in a new Afghanistan.

Moderator: Michael E. Hartmann / Former Director, Rule of Law, for the UN Assistance Mission for Afghanistan
Keynote Speaker: H.E. Roya Rahmani, Afghan Ambassador to the United States
