Tell Congress that #EarthIsWorthIt!

climatechange_instaConcept1

Earth Day is a global day of political action and civic participation, where we stand up for our planet and speak out in support of a clean, healthy environment.

This special day—which was created by U.S. environmental activists in 1970 and officially recognized by the UN General Assembly as International Mother Earth Day in 2009—provides us with an opportunity to raise public awareness about the challenges that threaten our well-being, provoke much-needed policy changes, and recognize a collective responsibility, as called for in the 1992 Rio Declaration, “to promote harmony with nature and the Earth to achieve a just balance among the economic, social and environmental needs of present and future generations of humanity.”

This year, UNA-USA invites you to take action on April 22 by capturing the awe-inspiring landscapes around your community—the ones that remind you why #EarthIsWorthIt. Tell us why these places remind you of the beauty of Mother Earth, and why Congress should take action and support the UN’s vital efforts to protect our planet.
