Dear UNA-USA Member:

We hope you have had a good and safe holiday season. As we begin this new year, we are proud of the impact we have made through our UNA-USA membership and leadership, and the progress we made in continuing to grow and expand our membership and programs. Key in this progress is our UNA-USA National Council, which represents the nationwide membership of the Chapters, Divisions, and national members, and will be the source of new ideas, initiatives, and productivity for our association and the UN. Our bi-annual nomination and election process for Regional Representatives to serve on the National Council is officially open.

This is the official announcement of the nominations and elections process for the 2018-2020 Regional Representatives to the National Council. Nominations will open on Jan. 8, 2018 and will close on Feb. 9 at 5:00 pm ET on the National Elections website: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NC2018Nominations

You may view the National Council Standard Operating Procedures on the UNA-USA website.

Candidates may nominate themselves or be nominated by a Chapter or individual member. Active Chapter leadership is an essential qualification for effective National Council participation, as is experience in advocacy, communication, and/or community involvement. All candidates should be familiar with the Responsibilities of Regional Representatives and agree to fulfill those responsibilities.

After Feb. 9, the Nominating Committee of the National Council will certify all candidates and open voting on April 2, to be completed by April 16 at 5:00 pm ET.   Each member will be able to vote for individuals in their region to be Regional Representatives on the National Council. Please note an important change in regional structure: There is no longer a “National Region.” Each member is regarded as being associated with a specific geographic region based upon membership designation and/or residency address as on file at UNA-USA national office.

We hope you will consider serving UNA-USA as a Regional Representative or will nominate a colleague to serve. More information regarding the requirements and the number of positions per region can be found on the National Council Elections website. Please contact us at nominations@unausa.org if additional information is needed.

Sincerely,
Nelda Reid, Chair, UNA-USA Nominating Committee
Teta Banks, Chair, UNA-USA National Council
