Advocacy Summit: Red, White & UN Blue

In 1945, the United States helped bring the United Nations to life, laying the foundation for decades of global cooperation and American leadership on the world stage.

Now, as the U.S. approaches its 250th anniversary, UNA-USA’s Advocacy Summit brings together 150 advocates from across the country for two days of dynamic UN programming, real diplomatic conversations, and hands-on advocacy training.

You’ll hear from leaders in government, advocacy, and the United Nations, and then put it into action by meeting directly with Congressional offices to advocate for strong U.S. leadership through the United Nations.

Participants who complete the Summit will receive a UNA-USA Advocate Certificate recognizing their commitment to effective citizen advocacy.

On Sunday, June 28th, we’ll host an optional walk from the Washington Monument to FDR Memorial for a picture with Eleanor Roosevelt at 6 PM ET. Click to check out metro accessibility and schedule for the walk. **Weather permitting
On Monday, June 29 (~8am – 7pm ET), you’ll hear from inspiring speakers, connect with fellow advocates, and participate in workshops to prepare for congressional meetings. Our day will end in celebration with a congressional reception on Capitol Hill.
On Tuesday, June 30 (~7:30am – 6pm ET), we’ll participate in congressional meetings on Capitol Hill. (Keep in mind that Hill Day requires extensive walking – if you have any concerns about this, please email mamalla@unfoundation.org, and we will help accommodate to the best of our ability.)

Tell Our UN Story

As part of the America250 reflection, UNA-USA chapters are invited to participate in “Our American Story,” an effort to capture & preserve the stories that define our country.

This initiative is about lifting up the people in your community who may not always be in the spotlight, but whose work reflects the values that shape both the United States & the United Nations.

Chapters will be invited to submit stories through the America250 platform & a UNA-USA form. Featured stories may be highlighted on UNA’s social media channels.

The UNA Impact

America250 is also launching a nationwide effort to track and celebrate volunteer service leading up to 2026, with the goal of making it a record-setting year of civic engagement. Every day, our UNA-USA chapters are educating communities, mobilizing advocates, advancing global cooperation at the local level, & more.

By logging volunteer hours, whether through education or service projects, you’re helping show that supporting the United Nations is not just a policy priority, but a form of civic engagement.

Chapters will be invited to submit volunteer hours through the America250 platform and a UNA-USA form.
