Elma Galassen Lund
Elma Galaasen Lund (22) triple majoring in Political Science, Sociology, and Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. She graduated in May 2024. In January 2023, Elma took on the role of President of the United Nations Association USA UH Mānoa Chapter. Under her leadership, the chapter has gained 50 members, engaging students in global issues and fostering a community dedicated to international cooperation and understanding.
Elma’s passion for social justice extends beyond the classroom. She has volunteered at various elementary schools around the world such as in Hawaii and Indonesia, gaining hands-on experience and insights into educational equity.
In June 2023, Elma attended the ANGEL Conference on Climate Change Education at UNESCO Headquarters. This experience further solidified her resolve to address the pressing issues of climate change and education, equipping her with valuable knowledge and connections in the global educational community.
Looking ahead, Elma is preparing to attend law school in Oslo starting in August 2025. She aims to use her extensive background in political science, sociology, and peace and conflict studies, along with her leadership and volunteer experiences, to pursue a career in law focused on social justice and human rights.
