Nathan Doyel
Nathan Doyel has served as a U.S. Foreign Service Officer since 2009. He joined the Bureau of International Organizations’ Office of UN Political Affairs in July 2022 where he has helped to coordinate U.S. efforts on Haiti, Colombia, Gaza, Yemen, and Burma within the UN Security Council. From 2018 to 2022, he oversaw more than $300 million in U.S. foreign assistance aimed at strengthening the capacity of the Colombian security forces to combat drug trafficking as Deputy Chief of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement’s Organized Crime and Counternarcotics Division at U.S. Embassy Bogota. Nathan has also served in Ottawa (2015-2018), Tallinn (2012-2013), and Guatemala City (2009-2011), as well as in the Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs’ Office for Policy Planning and Coordination (2013-2015). His foreign languages include Spanish and Estonian. Originally from Prescott, Arizona, Nathan completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Arizona with majors in Political Science and Latin American Studies and holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University’s Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service where focused his studies on democracy and governance in Latin America. Nathan and his wife Laura live in Arlington, VA with their two daughters.
