Tierra Copeland
Tierra Copeland is a Sudan Desk Officer in the Bureau of African Affairs’ Office of Sudan and South Sudan, where she covers press engagement and atrocity prevention. Tierra is a civil servant and started her State Department career in 2009 in the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, working on health and environment and trade issues in Africa and the Western Hemisphere. She also previously worked in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, where she managed counternarcotic and anticorruption foreign assistance programming for the Western Hemisphere. Tierra has a J.D. from the University of the District of Columbia and a M.S. in Global Health from George Mason University.
