Chapter Spotlight: Broward County

UNA Broward County Chapter’s motto is “We Show Up.”

As local leaders, our UNA-USA chapters often focus much of their work locally to realize the Sustainable Development Goals and impact progress in their communities. But this commitment to service and the values of the United Nations don’t end at their city limits. These local leaders are also committed to being global citizens, and come together to discuss, and in this case support, issues happening across the world. In the aftermath of the August 14 earthquake in Haiti, our UNA Broward County Chapter did just that.

UNA Broward County Chapter worked in collaboration with Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church and Food for the Poor to ship needed food and health supplies to Haitian earthquake victims, while inviting new UNA-USA members. Its members also regularly work with the Broward County Human Rights Board and the Broward Refugee Task Force supporting refugees resettling in their area.
