DESCRIPTION

Every March, UNA Women sends a delegation to the Commission on Status of Women’s (CSW) annual two-week session at UN headquarters in New York. During this period, representatives of UN Member States, civil society organizations and UN entities gather to discuss progress and gaps in the implementation of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, the key global policy document on gender equality, and the 23rd special session of the General Assembly held in 2000 (Beijing+5), as well as emerging issues that affect gender equality and the empowerment of women. UNA delegates are charged with attending sessions and sharing their experiences with the UNA network through blogs, Facebook, Twitter and a formal report. Furthermore, during this period, UNA Women conducts a session in the CSW NGO/NY conference and hosts a networking event for members in the area. You can now apply to be a UNA-USA Delegate for the 63rd Commission on Status of Women’s (CSW).
