UNA SAN FRANCISCO CHAPTER IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 315 INVITES YOU TO JOIN US AS WE CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY!

“Let’s make sure women and girls can shape the policies, services and infrastructure that impact all our lives. And let’s support women and girls who are breaking down barriers to create a better world for everyone.” — UN Secretary-General, António Guterres

Year 2020 represents a pivotal opportunity to mobilize global action to achieve gender equality and human rights of all women and girls. The tech industry has much room for improvement when it comes to inclusion of women as well as people of color. Gender inequality has put women at a disadvantage since the earliest days of Silicon Valley and this inequity persists even today.

This year on International Women’s Day, the United Nations – USA San Francisco chapter will host an inspiring panel discussion with gender equality champions and diversity experts to take a closer look at how the AI/tech industry perpetuates gender inequality and how we can use technology instead to empower women around the globe and make progress towards true gender equality.

Our theme is aligned with UN Women’s new multi-generational campaign, Generation Equality, marking the 25th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which was adopted in 1995 at the Fourth World Conference on Women in Beijing, China, the Beijing Platform for Action and is recognized as the most progressive roadmap for the empowerment of women and girls, everywhere.
