UN Day 2023 will feature Keynote Speaker Michael Kingsley-Nyinah, Director of the Central and Southern Africa Division in the UN Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations Director, Africa Division, UN Department of Peace Operations (DPKO) in conversation with Ambassador Francis Okelo, former UN Special Envoy for Peace. A panel of young activists who are involved in promoting peace and non-violence will follow the UN speaker. They will make short presentations of their work and will showcase their activities at tables around the room. Local programs include: March for our Lives; Combatants for Peace; Peace Action New York State; 914 United, WESPAC Foundation; Manhattanville College Clark Scholars for Social Justice; and Community Youth Violence Intervention. Cosponsors include: Mercy University: School of Social and Behavioral Sciences and Center for Global Engagement; Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Zeta Nu Omega chapter; Concerned Families of Westchester; International Institute on Peace Education (IIPE); League of Women Voters of Westchester; The Links, Inc., Westchester County Chapter; Manhattanville College, Mary T. Clark Center for Religion and Social Justice; September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows; WESPAC Foundation; Westchester County Youth Bureau; UNA-USA Southern NYS Division. Co-sponsors and featured youth movements will demonstrate their programs on peace and non-violence at tables around the room.
