An anti-sextortion conference in Louisville hosted by United Nations Association of the USA Kentucky Division partnering with Rotary and NGOs will spotlight Kentucky’s new law addressing sexual extortion, the tools available in schools to fight this crime, and practical ways individuals and families can protect themselves from online exploitation.
The event will be held Monday, Oct. 27, from 5–9 p.m. at Lang House, 115 South Ewing Ave. First Lady Britainy Beshear will deliver remarks on Kentucky’s broader work to combat human trafficking.
The event will also celebrate the advocates and policymakers who worked to pass a law in Kentucky this year making sextortion a crime. Sextortion is a form of exploitation that occurs when a person obtains sexually explicit images of an individual and threatens to release them unless their demands (monetary, sexual, or other requests) are met.
