THE UN TURNS 80
Join the UNA-USA Pasadena at Lineage Performing Arts Center for an engaging afternoon on Sunday, November 2 from 1-3 PM to celebrate the founding of the United Nations 80 years ago. The theme for this year’s UN Day, “Building our Future Together”, will prompt participants to focus on the UN’s relevance in our lives, our local communities and the United States. UNA-USA Pasadena President Ann Diederich will interview guest of honor Arn Chorn-Pond about his experience as a genocide survivor, former child soldier, refugee, advocate of the UN, Amnesty International, and his current tour to reflect on 50 years since Pol Pot’s regime and accomplishments as the founder of Cambodian Living Arts. We will all come away with ways to “Meet the Moment” and support the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN.
We will also honor the awardees of the 5th Annual Video Challenge and their videos promoting the UN’s work of global peace, justice, freedom, and wellbeing. RSVP is required in order to attend this event for UNA-USA Pasadena members. Registrants will receive an email with logistics and location information within 24 hours of the event.
The event will be catered by Flavors from Afar from the TIYYA foundation, a nonprofit that supports programming newly arrived refugees.
