The 2020 Global Engagement Summit is Canceled

Dear UNA-USA members and advocates,

I am writing to inform you that we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 Global Engagement Summit, previously scheduled to take place on Friday, March 27 at UN Headquarters.

COVID-19 has presented too great a challenge to bringing together over 1,500 Americans in the UN General Assembly Hall, particularly as other large UN gatherings have been canceled and U.S. and global guidance is changing daily related to the COVID-19 virus. It is our responsibility to amend our plans in order to prioritize the safety and wellness of our members and the public.

If you had registered to attend the Global Engagement Summit, the cost of your ticket will be refunded in its entirety to your original mode of payment within 3-5 business days.

However, I am pleased to announce that we will soon be launching the Global Engagement Online Series, a virtual alternative to our 2020 Global Engagement Summit which will keep you inspired, informed, and connected to the UN this year. We will bring you to the center of global problem solving, using technology and online meetings to ensure we are doing our part to mitigate public health risks.

The Global Engagement Online Series will provide a forum for us to celebrate and acknowledge the UN’s 75th anniversary and hear expert perspectives as we engage our communities in the UN75 campaign to shape a brighter future. We will also use these virtual convenings to stay educated, connected and motivated as we prepare for our annual Global Leadership Summit taking place June 7-9 in Washington, D.C. Although registration for the 2020 Global Engagement Summit is closed effective today, registration for our 2020 Global Leadership Summit will open on March 16 with early bird rates. As our world faces so many global challenges, it is crucial that you bring your voice to Capitol Hill with UNA-USA this year and make the case for the UN’s work in meetings with your Members of Congress. For more than 75 years, UNA-USA has never passed up an opportunity to advocate for change in the face of challenge and we need you with us.

While I am disappointed that we will not convene our movement this month at UN Headquarters, I am excited that we will remain interconnected online and in our communities. Please stay tuned for more information regarding the Global Engagement Online Series.

Thank you for your continued support for the UN and its vital work.

Sincerely,

Rachel Bowen Pittman,

Executive Director, UNA-USA
