Ugo Solinas

Ugo Solinas has over twenty years of service in the United Nations. He is currently Deputy Director and head of the DRC-Integrated Operational Team (IOT) in the Central and Southern Africa Division of the UN Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and the Department of Peace Operations (DPPA-DPO). Prior to joining DPPA-DPO he served as a Senior Political Affairs Officer in the Executive Office of the Secretary-General. He has held a range of positions at UN Headquarters and in the field and covered a range of country situations from Haiti to Cote d’Ivoire. He began his UN career as an Associate Political Affairs Officer in the UN peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, known as MONUC. Prior to joining the UN he was a political adviser to the Facilitator of the Inter-Congolese Dialogue, the late Sir Ketumile Masire, former President of Botswana and has also worked at the World Bank in Washington D.C. He holds a Master of Arts in International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS).
