Yasin Samatar

Mr. Yasin Samatar is a career international civil servant working as a Senior Multilateral Cooperation Specialist with the International Labour Organization (ILO) Office for the United Nations where he provides critical support in ensuring close liaison between the ILO and the UN and its entities in New York, as well as with the ILO tripartite stakeholders participating in or observing UN activities. He contributes to achieving ILO strategic outcomes, including supporting ILO entry points into the UN Secretariat and UN System for ILO technical areas.

Prior to the ILO, Yasin worked with the United Nations Inter-Agency Standing Committee secretariat in Geneva, where he supported senior representatives of UN and non-UN entities to ensure coherent and timely international response to humanitarian crises. With over 18 years of experience, he has worked in various departments in the UN Secretariat and with UN Agencies on issues related to sustainable development, peace and security, humanitarian action, evaluation and oversight, and public information in Afghanistan, Geneva, New York and South Sudan.
