Cristina Martinez

With a background in public relations and marketing, Cristina Martinez career has seamlessly transitioned into the realm of Corporate Social Responsibility, where she bridges the business goals while supporting community initiatives at Humana healthcare insurance. Her natural skills of negotiation and humanizing brands through grassroots campaigns to raise awareness about products has facilitated the creation of strategic partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army, Pace Center for Girls, Office Depot, T-Mobile, among others.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Cristina is deeply engaged in developing other leaders as President of the United Nations Association-USA Broward Chapter. Chairing a 12 people Board of Directors to implement global initiatives at the local level, while serving as a Community Chapter ambassador at the United Nations Foundation, most recently at the Global Engagement Summit gathering changemakers in New York, from around the world. Through the nonprofit organization affiliated to the United Nations, she advocates towards advancing economic viability, environmental protection, and social equity in Broward and neighbor counties.

Cristina Martinez is part of the 18% of women completing a master’s degree while having a kid under 25 years old. Meanwhile, she started her career directing the communications office at the Puerto Rico Department of Labor and the Vocational Rehabilitation Administration while in that role, she worked in public policy implementation, ensuring equal rights for people with disabilities. It was there, she first learned the importance of empathy, social responsibility, and service to the community. Working her way up and eventually relocating to Florida in 2018 after Hurricane Maria, Cristina decided to continue working towards social impact in her new communities in different networks.

 

Outside of her professional and volunteer commitments, Cristina finds joy in having thought provoking conversations with her son Gabriel, and relishes moments of tranquility in nature through outdoor activities, beachside reading, and writing.
