Meet our 2016-2017 GenUN Fellows!

MELANIE GOERKE, MIDWEST

 

Melanie Goerke (rhyme it with “turkey”) is the Midwest Region GenUN fellow. She’s a senior at Michigan State University studying construction management with specializations in: finance, sustainable construction, and sustainable education. She is looking to attend graduate school in the next couple of years to get a master’s degree in the field of environmental policy. Her other interests include business management/entrepreneurship, energy efficiency, and green living. Melanie is also currently teaching herself German, is a huge lover of sports, and anything Michigan related. Go Green!

VERONICA DULIN, NORTHEAST

 

Veronica Dulin is a senior at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, majoring in International Politics, with a special focus on international law and Arab Studies. This is her second year as a GenUN Fellow, and she is excited to continue working with campus chapters across the country to promote youth involvement and advocacy. She enjoys organizing Model UN conferences, engaging in immigration law, and playing softball. Her previous jobs include a stint at the US Mission to the United Nations at the State Department, the Congressional Office of Representative John Dingell, and teaching Model UN at her alma mater, Royal Oak High School.

BLAKE JOHNSON, SOUTH

 

Born and raised in Waco, Texas, it took six months hitchhiking in Australia after high school for Blake Johnson to realize that he wanted to go to a university and study International and Global Studies. Now a Senior at the University of Central Florida, Blake was president of his school’s UNA chapter, and is now the chairman of its Alumni Association. Outside of UNA he works full time for the Republican Party as a Field Organizer, and spends his free time watching football and playing Dungeons and Dragons with friends!

HARSH GUPTA, WEST

 

Harsh Gupta is a sophomore at the University of California, Los Angeles, and is majoring in Business Economics and Statistics. Harsh calls Calcutta, India home and as an international student he has an interesting perspective. He is deeply passionate about International Economics and aspires to be a developmental economist. Harsh loves FC Barcelona and is glued to the TV screen whenever they play. Apart from soccer, Harsh is a fervent martial artist and knows three martial arts. He also enjoys debating and is part of the UCLA debate team.
