UNA Southern Arizona Chapter: “Donations to Ukrainian Relief are Critically Needed”

Featured in Arizona Daily Star Apr. 26, 2022, the United Nations Association of Southern Arizona Center and Gift Store donated $40,000 to UNICEF’s Ukrainian Relief efforts and that was matched up to five times by an anonymous donor bringing the total donation to $200,000. The original donation, which represents the store’s largest one-time donation, was raised through store sales and private donations.

The center and gift store, at 6242 E. Speedway Blvd. in the Monterey Shopping Center, rely on more than 50 volunteers to lend their diverse backgrounds and talents to not only welcoming and educating visitors to our Center and its arts and processes but providing information and answering questions about our organization, its activities, programs, and services.

2022 marks its 47th year as a United Nations Association’s chapter store. “The purpose of the UNA Center & Gift Shop is to raise funds for UNICEF. We have been donating to UNICEF beginning 1975.” explained Joanne with the chapter gift store. According to the Daily Start interview, the center has donated more than $2 million to UNICEF since its founding.

There are numerous ways to engage with the UNA Southern Arizona Chapter and support the United Nations – become a UNA member today, volunteer at the chapter gift store, join its Model UN collaboration with University of Arizona, and check out the gift store.
