The program will focus on SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions, with a theme of “Restoring Justice, Saving Lives.” Our Keynote speaker, Hawa Diallo, Former Chief of the Civil Society Unit at the UN Department of Global Communications (DGC), will speak on “Reintegrating Combatants into Society”, and will touch on UN programs designed to bring child soldiers back into society and address at-risk young people and rising violence. Her address will be followed by a panel of local champions working in programs in Westchester County focused on peace, justice, and non-violence. The event will also include: an interactive discussion, a musical program by Westchester students and a networking reception with refreshments.
