Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to schedule the virtual meeting with my Member of Congress?

  • No. Our UNA-USA team is committed to making the Week of Action as easy and accessible as possible. We will take the lead in setting up and scheduling all virtual meetings, including handling technical logistics, such as setting up Zoom links. To avoid any miscommunication, we kindly ask that you do not personally attempt to schedule a meeting on your own.

What if I’m unable to participate in a virtual meeting with my Member of Congress during the scheduled time?

  • We will do our best to accommodate everyone’s schedule, including the availability of the respective congressional offices. If you know that you won’t be able to participate in a scheduled virtual meeting on a specific day, we ask that you indicate “not available” on the appropriate day in the Week of Action registration form.

How long are virtual meetings with Members of Congress?

  • Advocacy meetings typically last 15-30 minutes. Over the course of the Week of Action, you can expect to commit no more than 90 minutes of your time for virtual meeting(s) with your Members of Congress and/or congressional staff  (i.e. up to 60 minutes for two Senate Meetings, up to 30 minutes for one House meeting).

What type of preparation will I receive in advance of the scheduled virtual meetings with Members of Congress?

  • Prior to the Week of Action, UNA-USA staff will host XX advocacy training sessions to help you prepare for your meetings and get comfortable with our primary talking points. The date and time of these sessions will be released shortly. If you have any questions during these training sessions, you will have the opportunity to ask for clarification and request additional support.

Will I participate in virtual meetings with Members of Congress alone?

  • No. Virtual meetings with Members of Congress and/or congressional staff will be conducted with other constituents in your district or state. You will also receive support from UN Foundation staff, which will be assigned to help manage individual meetings throughout the Week of Action.
