UNA-USA’s Top Resources for Hosting a Successful UN Day Event

On October 24th we are celebrating 75 years since the UN Charter went into force. The 75th anniversary is a huge milestone, however, this year we are forced to celebrate under very different circumstances. The COVID-19 pandemic has provided challenges we never imagined but also showed what we together are capable of overcoming them all. There is no time like now to celebrate the one truly universal institution that is so essential in overcoming challenges like ending hunger, the climate crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic!

UNA-USA has created several resources to help you host a successful UN Day event!

This UN Day Toolkit has an extensive list of resources ranging from graphics to UN Day Proclamations to flyer templates that you can use when promoting your event!

This blog post covers some important tips for a successful event. Even though you might be hosting a virtual event there are key takeaways mentioned which are still useful.

  • Last Minute Ways to Celebrate the UN

Struggling coming up with a good way to celebrate the UN? Consider hosting a speaker at your school, show a documentary related to a UN issue, hold a discussion on a current international issue, or participate in UNA-USA’s National Call-In Day on October 23 to show your support for the UN. HERE are some ideas from past UN Days.

The Virtual Activities Hub is a key resource to use not only in celebrating UN Day but also for the entire semester. It has all past Webinars ready to be streamed, Resources & Games to engage your members, and multiple Advocacy Actions for you members to celebrate the UN by doing.

  • UNA-USA Video Library for Campus Chapters

The Video Library has videos covering a wide range of topics from individual Sustainable Development Goals to the formation of the UN. It is a great resource to share with your chapter. Click HERE to access the Video Library.

Stay active on your social media outlets! In a time of social distancing, marketing events have become even more important.
